    Hi,

After having a chat with Stuart around this one, I would like to add a couple of things to it:

    • The way I'd want to be able to do this is through the "font" section on the "Home" tab in MBA, where the font and font size I set are the ones which the panel would hav as its default.
    • I'd want to be able to disable chosing font and font size for the webb users, but I would like to be able to retain other formating such as bold, italic, underlined, ...

I would like to up the priority, if possible.

Chaps,  We are looking to implement something in this space, but not quite the story above

After grooming, we decided that the better approach was to set a Default Font and Size at Field level in Manage Themes

Implementing backlog items 20585 & 20893 will cover this off.

Without fully knowing what this will entail - it does not sound optimal from our perspective. We often find ourselves in a situation where the same field is presented through different model masters and even (from the user perspective) in different solutions or applications. To put the functionallity (as suggested above) at the manage theme level means that this would be configured at a deeper level than we think is good. We would want to be able to set this at the presentation level (e.g. in info panels) and make those panels determine the standard look and feel.

Maybe I am missing something here, if so, please clarify how this would work.

By way of a more full update to this

We have now groomed the story and our intent is to do the following.

    • Implement a setting at the field type level in repository manager to enable the setting of default values for font typeface and font size
    • Implemented up and down arrow buttons to enable size increase and decrease
    • Any changes to the default font will break the association with it. This includes the use of “size up” and “size down” buttons.

Karl, we currently do not plan to implement a setting to disable the use of font controls, preventing the user moving away from the current setting.  If this becomes a  more pressing issue, please let us know.

I think I responded to this, but I cannot see that response in this thread. However, to reiterate:

    - Setting font size at the "manage themes" level is too low for what we are currently working with. Since the same field can be exposed in multiple user application but do not necessarily use the same settings, this approach will most likely not meet our needs (e.g. it will probably make very little difference to us as it stands).

    - Not being able to diable font, font size and so on for the user means we have no way other than using text editors to prevent the webb users from deviating from the intended graphical profile (other than business rules, that is).

To be honest, I do not really understand which problem this is solving. Does this mean panel settings will now be done away with? We strictly use panel settings for controling font face and size and we do not want the users to control these options. If we could get settings for scaling on a text box (e.g. "scale font size to fit"), that might give us new options to explore. Same with "expanding pages" (i.e. in line with the user stories we talked over last year). What this seems to be doing is "soft coupling" data and presentation. I would have prefered complete de-coupling and solving the presentation problems at the presentation layer.

If you could expand on which problem you are trying to solve, maybe I can come to a better understanding of whether or not this can be used to solve/circumvent the challenges we are facing?

@Kevin Fairs - Any comments? I still do not understand what the problem this is solving actually is...
