Multi-line fields as HTML or Plain Text
In considering our development for the addition of Images into HTML fields, we have arrived at a design choice.
The crux of this is that we could either
a. Retain the ability to have multi-line, plain text fields (typically seen in commentary editors and panels), or b. always hold multi-line fields as HTML - enabling richer formatting options and the ability to include images if you desire.
My preference is option b - as this would reduce the number of options in the interface - and also reduce the complication of knowing which type of field is being used.
Question 1: - what, if it exists, would your use case be for retaining the ability to use multi-line fields as plain text (ie: not able to be formatted)
-
My preference is option a - the ability to have lots of text, commentary editors, matrix content, bullet points as plain text is something I like having at the moment. If there were a middle ground 'enriched plain text' option that I could use I'd probably use that instead of HTML for pretty much every use case except hyperlinks.
