Warning: Uncontrolled reboots reported for B45 installs.
Dear all,
Over the past few weeks we've had reports that during the installation of MooD 16.045, the target machine has performed an unprompted reboot.
As a precaution, please make sure you are willing to suffer an unscheduled reboot before installing this build.
Unfortunately we didn't catch this bug before release, and we apologize if this has caused unwarranted disruption to any related services.
During our extensive testing period, the team performed hundreds of installations, so we are going to struggle to reproduce this issue, and may need your help.
We have a suspicion it's happening during the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable component installation, as that's the only major change to the installer since 16.032.
If you experience this, please try and
- recall where exactly in the process this happened (what dialog was showing)
- what was the version of your operating system (Type 'winver' in the start menu),
- If your operating system was already up-to-date with all windows updates or not.
- What steps you took before that (e.g. uninstalling 16.032)
Thank you
Giles Middleton, Senior Software Developer, MooD Enterprise Team.

I've just witnessed this myself during the installation of the SQL CE 3.5 prerequesit, I saw a yellow triangle flash up and the VM instantly went into 'installing updates'.
I reset the VM back to a clean checkpoint, tried again, quickly installing MooD. It didn't happen.
One possible theory here, is that a recent windows update required a machine restart, but hadn't prompted for it; when the CE 3.5 redist executes, maybe it can't install until this pending update has been executed & machine restarted.
it's likely that if you apply updates and restart your machine before installing MooD, this will be less likely to happen.
