Repository Wide Auto ID
Raised at MooD User Forum, April
As a user of MooD, I want to have a repository wide automatically generated ID, including a prefix for element type, so that I can be confident that my elements have a unique identifier that I can use across an entire repository. I want this to be something like NN.0000 so that I can identify type NN and element number 000

Depending on what version of MooD you're on - Pre/Post fixes can be achieved by constructing smart columns which accept the required type and transform the auto number with string operations, - thus it is composed on the fly, rather than being repeatedly stored, and easily changed if you need to. You then apply those smart columns to your infopanel/matrix views, but you won't see them as a field in business Architect's "Open" window. Ideally, this would be something you would configure per-type in manage themes, and not need a smart column!

Kev given the way you've written the use case for Craig, I believe it can be already acheived, if he's asking for unique numbers for a type, and when combined with a prefix, that gets him uniqueness across a repository - it can already be done. However, searching for that specific combination (e.g. 12.1234 can't be achieved, as I don't think we have a rich enough language to translate the prexfix into a type).
