Email Synchronizer Exposes Query Variables
When configuring an Email Synchronizer, the user is able to choose the results of a query as the elements to produce emails for.
Previously, any Query Variables had to be hardcoded within the Email Synchronizer configuration dialog, and could not be added as an input on the flipside of a button used to execute the synchronization.
Now, the user is able to set variables via the flipside of the button.
Email Synchronizer Outputs HTML Fields
Changes have been made to the Email Synchronizer configuration dialog, to enable formatted text and pictures to be sent via email.
Previously, when choosing fields for the message body, the user would not be given the option to add Formatted Text fields.
Now the user can select Formatted Text fields and select an option to "Send message in HTML format".
If the option is selected, the content will be delivered in formatted text, along with any pictures from that field. If the option is unchecked, the content will be delivered in plain text and any pictures contained within that field will be removed.
Tip: to select fields, hover your cursor over "Field", on the right of the dialog, and drag it to where you want it in the Message body on the left.
HTML Tags
When the checkbox is ticked, the user can also choose to add their own HTML tags to the body of the message. It is worth noting that the HTML will be sanitised and that HTML only works in the message body, whereas the message subject will always be delivered in plain text.
You can even present data as tables within the email, as shown in the example below:
<h1>Country Information:</h1><table border='1' style='border-collapse:collapse'>
<thead style='background:cyan'>
<td>Country</td><td>Colour</td><td>Status</td><td>Value</td><td>Cost</td><td>Start Date</td><td>End Date</td>
</thead>
<Query type="DATA_NAV_QUERY" elementid="3A33BAD86B6D4E40BFA369A8C5877770" elementtype="ElementQuery"><tr>
<td><Element/></td>
<td><Field type="DATA_NAV_SIMPLETYPE" elementid="BBE51C52E547444DA3504E345A04933F" elementtype="ElementDefinitionSimpleType" /></td>
<td><Field type="DATA_NAV_SIMPLETYPE" elementid="76073676BFB2474D834D097C64CAF1A7" elementtype="ElementDefinitionSimpleType" /></td>
<td><Field type="DATA_NAV_SIMPLETYPE" elementid="6B0C34DC897D47F9A27DB15AEE34E01C" elementtype="ElementDefinitionSimpleType" /></td>
<td><Field type="DATA_NAV_SIMPLETYPE" elementid="D9C082DCFADB4C59B2C7CB9C8F71C1B6" elementtype="ElementDefinitionSimpleType" /></td>
<td><Field type="DATA_NAV_SIMPLETYPE" elementid="F189901DF28E4A5C8CA0FF83EA518CE3" elementtype="ElementDefinitionSimpleType" /></td>
<td><Field type="DATA_NAV_SIMPLETYPE" elementid="0109278F3FCB4641AE8090520D42535A" elementtype="ElementDefinitionSimpleType" /></td>
</tr></Query>
</table>
Use Smart Columns and System Literals
As well as the ability to use formatted text fields (with formatting intact) to build the message body, the user is also now able to use Smart Columns and System Literals (Name, Id, Created Date etc.), thus enabling the user to produce a much more powerful and informative communication.
NOTE: use of variables is not yet supported within the body of the email.
These changes are made available in Build 85
