What is the Mandate Feature For?

The Mandate feature lets you specify a MooD 15 build of Business Architect that a repository should be edited with. This can help you prevent users from opening, editing and saving a repository against the incorrect build. Saving against an older build can break new functionality that has been used, and saving against a newer build can incorporate new functionality that is not required. Both have the potential to cause problems.

In Business Architect, on the File menu, if you point to Manage Repository, you'll see the Mandate a Build of Business Architect option. This gives you the first dialog box shown in MAND1. The second dialog box in MAND1 shows you what you get when you try and open a mandated repository against a newer build of MooD.

It is always possible to open the repository, but the user is made aware that the repository is mandated against another build and they must actively confirm that they want to remandate against that build.
