Testing and Execution
The Microsoft Excel Synchronization Activator wizard does some testing as you use it. In addition, when a Synchronizer is open in the workspace, the ribbon’s Home tab includes the Execute and Validate commands.
Validate will test your mapping and then prompt you to validate your source data. If you confirm this, a variation of the wizard is displayed. This gives you a Validate Range stage that is like the Confirm Data Types stage undertaken when the Synchronizer was created.
Validating is demonstrated in the short video clip below:
Execute will run the Synchronizer. You will get a progress dialog box and any errors will be displayed. Executing the Synchronizer will create (or update) Elements in accordance to the mapping. Each element’s fields are populated with the data from the corresponding row’s columns in the spreadsheet.
